1. What is Vermeil?
Vermeil (pronounced ver-may ) is a combination of precious metals. The inside core is pure sterling silver; the outside is a solid coating of finely crafted 14 karat gold. This combination produces long-lasting jewelry that looks, feels, and endures exactly like pure gold.
According to FTC standards, the minimum thickness of the plating must be equivalent to 100 millionths of an inch (2.5 microns) of fine gold.
2. What is Sterling Silver?
Like gold, silver can be alloyed with other metals to improve its durability. Sterling silver is the industry standard containing 925 (92.5%) parts silver and 75 parts of another metal, usually copper.
3. What is 14k gold filled?
Gold-filled is a thick layer of 14k over a small core of base metal (usually brass), and will not wear off or tarnish.
You can have all the beauty of 14k without the huge cost.
