Some facts you should know about silver (sterling) is that it will tarnish with continuous exposure to air (oxygen).

Silver also bends easily, and so should be handled with care.

Taking care of silver jewelry is easy

The best way to store silver jewelry is in zip lock bags.

Zip lock bags keep the air out and help silver in maintaining its shine for a longer period of time.

Once Tarnished

* Use can use silver polishing cloths (available on our website for purchase)

These cloths should be rubbed gently on the metal till the cloth turns black.

Do not rub very hard and do not pull the jewelry (especially chains).

These cloths should not be used on gemstones

* You can also wash silver jewelry with warm soapy water and a soft brush.

Do not use tissue or a towel to dry you jewelry after washing. Use only a soft cloth.

Many jewelers do not recommend this as they feel this may affect the metal's shine.

After washing your jewelry you should polish it as well.

If your jewelry contains gemstones or pearls, do not immerse in water, as this can loosen some settings. Never use dips or abrasives cleaners on gemstones.

* Never use an ultrasonic cleaner, ammonia or any chemical solution to clean opaque gemstones, such as turquoise, malachite, onyx, lapis lazuli and opals. They are a porous stone and may absorb chemicals, which build up inside the stone and cause discoloration. Simply wipe them gently with a moist cloth until clean.

* Never immerse your silver jewelry in chlorine, salt water, mineral springs, and suntan lotion. Remember, some household cleaners contain chlorine bleach; these will cause discoloration and also loosen the gemstones.
